Determine Your Eligibility.
Eligible applicants are non-profit organizations, schools, school districts, housing authorities, townships, counties, park districts, conservation districts, forest preserve districts, and municipalities-including municipal entities, such as water reclamation districts-within ComEd’s service territory in the following counties: Boone, Bureau, Carroll, Cook, DeKalb, DuPage, Ford, Grundy, Henry, Iroquois, Jo Daviess, Kane, Kankakee, Kendall, Lake, LaSalle, Lee, Livingston, Marshall, McHenry, Ogle, Rock Island, Stephenson, Whiteside, Will, Winnebago, and Woodford. Please check that your proposed project site is in the service territory and you are a ComEd customer before applying.

Now Welcoming Non-profits, Schools, School Districts, and Housing Authorities
Non-profit organizations, schools, school districts, and housing authorities proposing projects within ComEd’s service territory (please see map and list of counties above) may now apply with a letter of support from their township, county, park district, conservation district, forest preserve district, or municipality-including municipal entities such as their water reclamation district. View the Eligibility section of the FAQ for the letter of support criteria and a sample letter of support.
Past grantees are eligible to reapply only if they have fully completed their grant requirements, including but not limited to submitting their final grant report. Eligible applicants must be in good standing with ComEd related to the provision of utilities.
Grants of up to $10,000 can be requested to support open space projects that focus on planning, acquisition, and improvements to local parks, natural areas, and recreation resources. Grant recipients can use ComEd Green Region grants in combination with other funding sources to cover a portion of the expenses associated with developing and/or supporting their open space projects. Please review the Program Guidelines regarding matching funds and eligible activities before applying.

2023 Grant Cycle Timeline
The application will open at 9am on January 13, 2023.
The application is due by 5pm on March 24, 2023.
The ComEd Green Region team will notify all applicants in early July 2023.
Award recipients must send in documentation to accept grant in early August 2023.
Grant applications are reviewed by an advisory committee composed of county government officials and members of the region’s non-profit conservation community. Grantees are responsible for reviewing all the grant materials to ensure their projects and final grant reports meet the terms of the ComEd Green Region Grant.
